Over the last two weeks the City High softball team locked up a Mississippi Valley Conference divisional crown and claimed a regional title securing a trip to state.

On Wednesday the Little Hawks began to collect the individual rewards that follow that team success.

City High had four players earn first-team divisional honors on Wednesday when the Mississippi Valley Conference released its postseason awards.

The Mississippi Division champion Little Hawks had seven total players earn postseason recognition after finishing with a 26-4 conference record.

Seniors Ella Cook, Carey Koenig and Ayana Lindsey were all first-team selections along with eighth-grader Lianna Hull while Cynthia Hull was a second-team pick for City High.

City High head coach Jeff Koenig was named Mississippi Division coach of the year along with Western Dubuque coach Rex Massey.

Lindsey was a unanimous first team selection as an infielder after hitting .355 and leading the Little Hawks with 52 runs and 52 stolen bases while hitting four home runs and driving in 21 runs.

Cook was a first-team pick as a pitcher after posting a 17-3 record and 1.32 ERA with 180 strikeouts in 121 2/3 innings. She also hit .454 with a team-high eight home runs and 58 RBI.

Koenig was the first-team selection at catcher in the Mississippi Division following a season in which she hit .388 with 13 doubles, eight home runs and 52 RBI.

Lianna Hull earned first-team honors as an outfield after a strong debut season in which she led City High with a .517 batting average while scoring 49 runs and driving in 30.

Senior Cynthia Hull earned second-team honors as an infielder after hitting .336 with two home runs sand 26 RBI.

Junior Makayla Ribble and eighth-grader Avy Lindsey were both honorable mention picks for City High.

Liberty High had six players earn all-division honors led by sophomore Kennedy Daugherty who was a first-team utility pick in the Mississippi Division.

Senior pitcher Kara Maiers, freshman Mischa Reiners and junior Kinsley Robertson were all second-team selections for the Lightning.

Daugherty hit .395 with a team-leading 36 RBI and tied for the team lead with 30 runs and also went 5-3 with a 4.29 ERA in 45 2/3 innings in the circle.

Maiers was a second-team pick as a pitcher after posting a 7-3 record with a 1.25 ERA in 72 2/3 innings in an injury shortened season.

Reiners earned second team honors after hitting .429 with eight doubles and 12 RBI while Robertson was a second team pick as an outfielder after hitting .345 with 27 RBI.

Freshman Haley Schroeder and senior Raquel Trolliet were both honorable mention picks for Liberty High.

West High senior first baseman Liv Williams earned first-team honors in the Valley Division after leading the Trojans with a .387 batting average and 14 walks while driving in 24 runs.

Junior Maddie Caylor was a second-team utility selection following a breakthrough season in which she hit .346 with two home runs and 21 RBI.

Senior catcher Rylee Goodfellow and sophomore outfielder Ella Nelson were both honorable mention picks.
