Liberty High had a seven-game winning streak halted on Monday with a 1-0 nine-inning loss to Davenport Central in a non-conference matchup in North Liberty.
Three Blue Devil pitchers combined on a four-hit shutout as Davenport Central improved to 13-18 with the win.
Liberty High dropped to 23-12 with its first loss since falling to Dubuque Wahlert 5-0 in the second game of a doubleheader on June 30.
Adam Burke earned the win for Davenport Central striking out six in four innings of two-hit relief.
Shane Alberts tossed four shutout innings for Liberty High, allowing just two hits while striking out four and Kolton Fangman, Cody Schroeder and Keian Secrist all logged scoreless innings of relief.
Jack Turgasen took the loss allowing one run on two hits in two innings.
Alberts doubled and Schroeder, TJ Kimm and Garret Roggy had singles for the Lightning.
