Softball Roundup: Solon Rolls Past South Tama in Postseason Opener

Solon opened the postseason with a bang on Tuesday downing South Tama 12-0 in three innings in a Class 3A, Region 7 quarterfinal in Solon.
Class 3A No. 11 Solon improved to 25-12 with the win and advanced to the Region 7 semifinal where it will host West Marshall on Friday at 7 p.m. South Tama closed the season 4-34.
West Marshall advanced with a 10-0 win over Union on Tuesday.
Solon scored six runs in the first inning and tacked on six more in the third to end the game via run rule.
Monet Barnhouse went 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored for the Spartans while Hilary Wilson was 3-for-3 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored.
Sarah Heick was 2-for-3 with a pair of double and drove in two runs and Addie Miller was 2-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI.
Carly Ellison had a hit, scored a run and drove in a run and Tiffany Primmer had a hit and scored a run for the Spartans.
Kendall Jensen earned the win allowing just four hits in three shutout innings while striking out two and walking one.
Jensen also drove in two runs while Ava Stebral scored a run and had an RBI.
