Baseball Roundup: West High Splits Doubleheader With Western Dubuque

West High split a Mississippi Valley Conference doubleheader with Western Dubuque on Monday in Iowa City dropping the opener 5-2 and winning the nightcap 7-3.
The Trojans moved to 19-12 on the season and 14-11 with the split while Western Dubuque is now 16-15 on the year and 11-13 in MVC play.
West High was held to a pair of hits in the opener as Cade Adkins and Noah DeSaulniers each had singles for the Trojans while Nathan Stephens scored a run.
Adkins took the loss in game one allowing three runs on six hits while striking out two in four innings.
West High earned the split with a win in the nightcap behind DeSaulniers who picked up the win allowing one run on one hits while striking out one and walking four in four innings.
Luke Fasse worked an inning of relief and Caden Noeller handled the final two innings allowing one unearned run on one hit while striking out three.
Marcus Morgan led the West High offense going 3-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI.
Alex McKay was 2-for-4 with a triple, scored a run and drove in a run and Adkins and DeSaulniers each had a hit and drove in a run.
Ian McAreavy and Schuyler Houston each had a hit and scored a run and Mitch Frey doubled, scored a run and drove in a run.
