Class 3A fifth-ranked Cedar Rapids Xavier defeated fourth-ranked Solon 14-2 in five innings in a top-five non-conference matchup on Tuesday in Solon.
Cedar Rapids Xavier improved to 22-12 on the season while Solon dropped to 24-9.
The Saints broke open a scoreless game with 11 runs in the third inning.
Xavier sent 15 batters to the plate in the inning and scored all 11 runs with two outs.
Brady Jeworrek took the loss for Solon allowing eight runs on seven hits while walking three and striking out one in 2 2/3 innings.
Brett White went 2-for-3 with a double for Solon while Blake Timmons had a hit and scored a run and Westen Stiegelmeyer had a hit and drove in a run.
