Baseball Roundup: Regina Splits RVC Doubleheader With Fourth-ranked Mid-Prairie

Regina split a River Valley Conference South Division doubleheader with Class 2A fourth-ranked Mid-Prairie on Monday in Wellman dropping the opener 12-1 in five innings and winning the nightcap 13-12.
The Regals improved to 13-12 on the season and 10-8 in RVC play while Mid-Prairie moved to 17-7 on the season and 14-4 in conference games.
Regina had just five hits in a five-inning loss in the opener as Danny Gavin went 2-for-3, Ethan VonHarz doubled and Kyle Schooley had a hit and scored a run.
Declan McCoy had a hit and Jack Tierney drove in a run in game one.
The Regals bounced back for a wild win in the nightcap, taking an early lead with a seven-run second inning and then reclaiming the lead for good with three runs in the sixth.
Regina had six hits in the game-two win but took advantage of 14 walks issued by five Golden Hawk pitchers and three more Regals were hit by a pitch.
Sean Nugent went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI and Cameron Lehman had a hit and drove in three runs for the Regals.
Schooley had a hit and drove in two runs, McCoy had a hit, drove in a run and scored a run and Jack Tierney had a hit and scored a run.
Gavin scored two runs and drove in two runs, Levi Quinlan scored three runs and VonHarz drove in a run.
Lehman earned the win in relief, allowing five runs, two earned, on four hits in 2 2/3 innings.
McCoy recorded the final two outs to secure the save.
