Class 5A No. 11 Liberty High exploded for 36 runs and 34 hits while sweeping Waterloo West in a Mississippi Valley Conference doubleheader on Thursday in Waterloo.

Liberty High won the opener 23-1 in three innings and took the nightcap 13-1 in four innings while improving to 20-13 on the season and 17-8 in MVC play.

Waterloo West dropped to 7-27 and 5-23 in conference games.

Liberty High scored a run in all seven innings and had scoring outbursts of 12 runs in the first game and 10 in the second.

Kinsley Robertson earned the win in the opener allowing one run on five hits while striking out five in three innings.

Nine different Liberty High players had a hit in game one including seven players with multi-hit games.

Brynlee Slockett went 4-for-4 with a double, a home run, three RBI and four runs scored to lead the barrage while Eva Stewart was 4-for-4 with two doubles, a triple, five RBI and two runs.

Haley Schroeder was 3-for-3 with a triple, a homer, three RBI and four runs and Raquel Trolliet was 2-for-3 with a home run, four RBI and two runs.

Kennedy Daugherty went 3-for-4 with a double, triple, two runs and two RBI and Robertson had three hits and drove in three runs.

Ella McLaughlin had two hits, drove in a run and scored a run, Olivia Davenport had a hit and an RBI and Haileigh Smith had a hit, an RBI and scored two runs.

Daugherty earned the win in game two giving up one unearned run on three hits while striking out five and walking three in four innings and also went 3-for-3 with an RBI.

Ava Donnelly went 3-for-3 with two doubles and a home run while driving in four runs to lead the Lightning.

Schroeder homered and drove in three runs while scoring three ties and Robertson had a hit and drove in two runs.

Malloy Jones doubled and scored a run. Ashlyn Geasland scored a run and Smith had a hit and drove in a run.
