Baseball Roundup: Solon Sweeps Mount Vernon in WAMAC East Division Doubleheader

Class 3A sixth-ranked Solon swept Mount Vernon in a WAMAC East Division doubleheader on Thursday in Mount Vernon winning the opener 9-1 and taking the nightcap 8-0.
Solon improved to 18-7 on the season and 14-2 in WAMAC play with the sweep while Mount Vernon dropped to 9-16 and 7-11 in conference games.
Blake Timmons earned the win in the opener allowing just one unearned run on one hit while striking out six in six innings.
Jackson Ryan, Cade Chapman, Ben Cusick and Kinnick Pusteoska all had two hits for Solon in game one.
Chapman doubled twice and drove in four runs while Cusick had two RBI and Pusteoska drove in a run and scored twice.
Brayden Rickertsen picked up the win in the nightcap striking out seven while allowing five hits in 6 2/3 shutout innings.
Pusteoska went 3-for-4 with three RBI and Timmons had three hits and scored two runs.
Brett White and Brady Jeworrek each had a hit and drove in two runs and Jackson Run had a hit and scored two runs.
