Softball Roundup: Liberty High Splits Doubleheader With Cedar Rapids Jefferson

Liberty High and Cedar Rapids Jefferson split a Mississippi Valley Conference cross-divisional doubleheader on Wednesday evening in North Liberty.
Cedar Rapids Jefferson won the opener 16-4 while Class 5A ninth-ranked Liberty High rebounded to win the nightcap 6-2.
Liberty High moved to 18-10 on the season and 15-5 in MVC play while Cedar Rapids Jefferson now sits 17-12 on the year and 13-9 in conference games.
The J-Hawks hammered 21 hits and scored three or more runs in four innings on its way to a five-inning win in game one.
Taylor Robinson went 4-for-5 with two doubles, a home run and seven RBI to pace Cedar Rapids Jefferson.
Raquel Trolliet had a pair of hits for Liberty High while Haley Schroeder and Kennedy Daugherty each had hits, scored runs and drove in runs.
Kinsley Robertson and Olivia Davenport each had hits and drove in runs for the Lightning while Mallory Jones and Ella McLaughlin each scored runs.
Daugherty earned the win in the nightcap as Liberty High overcame an early 2-0 deficit to salvage the split.
Daugherty allowing just two unearned first-inning runs, giving up seven hits and two walks while striking out three.
Trolliet and Daugherty were each 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI and Slockett had two hits and scored twice.
Robertson had a hit and drove in two runs, Schroeder had a hit and drove in a run and Eva Stewart added a hit.
