Baseball Roundup: City High Extends Winning Streak to Eight With Sweep of Dubuque Senior

It is a new week but the City High winning streak keeps on going.
Class 4A sixth-ranked City High extended its winning streak to eight in a row on Monday sweeping Dubuque Senior in a Mississippi Valley Conference cross-divisional doubleheader at Mercer Park in Iowa City.
City High won the opener 4-2 and took the nightcap 10-5 to improve to 19-5 on the season and 14-2 in MVC play.
Dubuque Senior dropped to 10-14 and 6-12 in conference action.
Cade Obermueller picked up the win in the opener allowing just one run on one hit while striking out eight and walking two in 4 2/3 innings.
Carter Seaton didn’t allow a hit and gave up just one walk and one run in 2 2/3 innings of relief to earn the save.
Seaton and Gable Mitchell each had two hits to lead City High in the opener.
Mitchell had a double, drove in a run and score a run while Seaton had an RBI.
Cedric Dunnwald and Joey Bouska each had hits and scored runs for the Little Hawks while John Klosterman and Jacob Means each drove in runs.
Jay Kennedy earned the win in the nightcap allowing three runs on five hits while striking out four and walking one in five innings.
City High pounded out 15 hits in game two including four extra base hits as Gavin Koch and Mitchell each had two.
Mitchell went 3-for-4 with a double, triple, three RBI and two runs scored while Koch doubled twice, drove in two runs and scored once.
Seaton went 3-for-4 with three runs and Jacob Means and Ben Kueter each went 2-for-3.
Bouska and Obermueller each had hits and drove in runs in game two and Klosterman scored a run and drove in a run.
