Baseball Roundup: Solon Stretches Win Streak to Seven With Sweep of Independence

Solon ran its winning streak to seven with a sweep of Independence in a WAMAC cross-divisional doubleheader in Solon on Friday.
The Spartans improved to 16-6 on the season and 12-2 in WAMAC play with the sweep while Independence dropped to 12-9 on the year and 5-7 in conference play.
Drew Turner earned the win in the opener allowing one run on three hits in 3 1/3 innings, striking gout three and walking two.
Brett White went 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBI to lead Solon whole Brady Jeworrek, Gehrig Turner, Ben Cusick, Brayden Rickertsen and Jackson Ryan all had two hits for the Spartans.
Gehrig Turner had a double and drove in two runs while Carson Shive had a hit and two RBI.
Ryan, White, Cusick and Blake Timmons all scored twice in the opener.
Rickertsen picked up the win in the nightcap allowing three unearned runs on four hits while striking out eight in 6 1/3.
Ryan had two hits and scored three runs and White had two hits including a double and drove in two runs.
Jeworrek and Shive each had a hit and drove in two runs while Timmons, Shive and Kinnick Pusteoska each scored two runs.
