Baseball Roundup: New City High Winning Streak Up to Six With Sweep of CR Washington

After having a seven-game winning streak stopped with a loss to Dubuque Wahlert on Monday it hasn’t taken long for City High to start another streak.
Class 4A eighth-ranked City High pushed its current winning streak to six with a sweep of Cedar Rapids Washington on Friday in a Mississippi Valley Conference Mississippi Division doubleheader in Cedar Rapids.
City High won the opener 6-2 and took the nightcap 16-5 in six innings to improve to 17-5 on the season and 14-2 in MVC play.
Cedar Rapids Washington dropped to 4-17 and 1-11 in conference play.
Egan Smith earned the win in the opener allowing two runs on two hits while striking out seven and walking three in five innings.
Gable Mitchell allowed just one hit and struck out two in two scoreless innings of relief.
Cedric Dunnwald and Carter Seaton each had two hits for the Little Hawks in game one with Seaton driving in two runs and scoring a run and Dunnwald driving in one.
John Klosterman and Gavin Koch each had hits and drove in runs while Joey Bouska had a hit and scored a run.
Jacob Means scored a run and drove in a run for City High.
Seaton picked up the win in game two allowing two runs, one earned, on three hits in three innings.
Mitchell went 3-for-3 with three runs scored in game two while Dunnwald went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI.
Seaton was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored and Grant Ernst had a hit and drove in three runs.
Cade Obermueller and Klosterman had hits and drove in runs and Koch had a double and scored twice.
