City High remained red-hot with a sweep of Linn-Mar on Wednesday in a Mississippi Valley Conference Mississippi Division doubleheader in Iowa City.

Class 4A eighth-ranked City High won the opener 11-0 in five innings and took the nightcap 12-0 in five innings while improving to 14-5 on the season and 12-2 in MVC play.

The Little Hawks have now won 10 of their last 11 games and have scored double figure runs in eight of those contests.

Linn-Mar dropped to 8-11 and 7-7 in MVC play with the two losses.

City High starters John Klosterman and Alex Knudtson combined to allow just four Linn-Mar hits in 10 innings on Wednesday as City High posted their fourth shutout in the past seven games.

John Klosterman tossed a one-hitter in the opener, striking out four without walking a batter.

City High broke open a 1-0 game with 10 runs in the fifth inning.

Jacob Williamson had a three-run triple in the fifth while Klosterman had a two-run triple as part of the 10-run inning.

Gavin Koch started the fifth inning with a double and Carter Seaton had a two-run single as part of the outburst that ended the game early via the run rule.

Klosterman and Cade Obermueller each had two hits and drove in two runs for the Little Hawks while Gable Mitchell had a hit, scored twice and drove in a run and Egan Smith had a hit and scored a run.

Joey Bouska scored a run and drove in a run and Koch scored twice.

Alex Knudtson tossed four shutout innings in the second game to earn the win allowing three hits while striking out six and walking four.

City High took control with a six-run first inning and put the game out of reach with five in the fourth.

Koch went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple, four RBI and three runs scored and Ben Kueter was 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBI.

Means had a double, two runs scored and two RBI and Klosterman had a hit and scored twice.

Cedric Dunnwald had a hit scored two runs and drove in a run and Mitchell had an RBI.
