Softball Roundup: Nibaur Leads Regina in Sweep of Ninth-ranked West Liberty

A couple of strong pitching performances combined with a pair of home runs all from Emma Nibaur lifted Regina to two wins over Class 3A ninth-ranked West Liberty on Monday.
Nibaur tossed back-to-back gems and homered twice in the nightcap as Regina swept the Comets in a River Valley Conference South Division doubleheader in Iowa City.
Regina won the opener 2-1 and took the nightcap 4-1 while improving to 11-5 and 9-1 in RVC play with the sweep while West Liberty dropped to 11-5 and 7-4 in conference action.
Nibaur allowed just one run in both games, going the distance in each while giving up a combined nine hits.
The junior right-hander gave up one run on six hits and struck out five without issuing a walk in game one.
Emma Sueppel went 2-for-3 with a double while Nibaur had a hit and drove in both runs in the opener.
Abby Clark and Gabby Sueppel each had a hit and scored a run for Regina.
In game two Nibaur was even better, allowing just one unearned run on three hits while striking out one and not walking a batter.
Nibaur also went 3-for-3 with a double and two home runs finishing with three RBI and two runs scored.
Courtney Kessler went 1-for-3 with a run scored and Kate Milder had a hit and drove in a run.
Gabby Sueppel had a hit and scored a run.
