Solon bounced back from a loss to City High on Saturday with a doubleheader sweep of South Tama on Monday in Tama.

The Spartans won the opener 20-3 in four innings and rallied for an 8-7 win in the nightcap while improving to 11-6 on the season and 8-2 in WAMAC Conference play.

South Tama dropped to 6-8 on the season and 2-6 in the conference with the losses.

Solon exploded for 19 hits in the opener as Brett White went 4-for-4 with a double, a triple, four RBI and four runs scored for the Spartans.

Blake Timmons, Kinnick Pusteoska and Gehrig Turner all had three hits for the Spartans in game one.

Turner had a home run and drove in four runs while Pusteoska was 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple, three runs scored and six RBI.

Timmons was 3-for-4 with four runs scored and an RBI and Brady Jeworrek and Ben Cusick each had two hits.

Brayden Rickertsen earned the win allowing three runs, one earned, on two hits while striking out three and walking five in two innings.

Bo Janssen worked two scoreless innings in relief.

Parker Pentico worked 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief to earn the win in game two as Solon overcame an early 4-0 deficit.

Timmons had two hits, scored a run and drove in a run and Gehrig Turner had a hit and drove in a run.

White had a hit and scored twice, Jeworrek had a hit and scored a run and Carson Shive and Jackson Ryan each had hits.

Jacob Smith allowed seven runs, two earned, on 10 hits while striking out six in 5 2/3.
