West High Seniors Godbolt and Lu Earn First-team All-State Honors

A season that featured 20 wins, an 18-match winning streak, a conference title and a Class 3A runner-up finish has produced a pair of first-team all-state honors for West High.
West High seniors Andy Lu and Kolby Godbolt were both named to the Class 3A all-state first-team released by the Iowa Soccer Coaches Association on Monday.
Lu and Godbolt helped West High post a 20-2 record and reach the 3A state title match and highlight a list of seven Your Prep Sports area athletes to earn all-state status from the IAHSSCA.
Godbolt led West High with 21 goals, including five at the state tournament, and added seven assists in his lone season playing for the Trojans.
Lu was a stalwart for the Trojan defense and scored four goals and added two assists helping West High 11 shutouts on the season.
Five area athletes earned all-state honors in Class 1A led by West Branch junior Peyton Miller, Regina senior Alec Wick and Solon senior Gabe Yetley who were all first-team selections.
Miller ranked second in all classes with 40 goals and added 11 assists while helping the Bears to the most successful season in program history.
Senior goal keeper Cael Fiderlein was an honorable mention pick in 1A after 100 saves and allowing 15 goals in 13 matches.
West Branch went 11-2 and fell to Solon in the substate semifinals in just its second season of varsity action.
Wick earned all-state honors for the third consecutive season after leading Regina and ranking ninth in 1A with 31 goals.
The senior forward added six assists while helping Regina return to the 1A state tournament for the 13th consecutive season where the Regals fell to eventual champion Burlington Notre Dame in the semifinals.
Yetley earned first-team honors after leading Solon with 25 goals and 13 assists.
The senior forward ranked 12th in 1A with 25 goals and helped Solon to 13-6 record that ended with a loss to Regina in the substate final.
Junior Dillon Bruck earned second-team honors for Solon after ranking second on the team with 20 goals and adding five assists.
