Softball Roundup: City High Splits Doubleheader at Dubuque Hempstead

Class 5A sixth-ranked City High split a Mississippi Valley Conference doubleheader with Dubuque Hempstead on Wednesday in Dubuque winning the opener 4-2 and dropping the nightcap 6-4.
City High moved to 8-4 on the season and 7-3 in MVC play while Dubuque Hempstead is now 6-2 on the season and in conference games.
Ella Cook earned the win in the opener allowing two runs on five hits while striking out nine and walking three.
Carey Koenig went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI to lead the Little Hawks while Lianna Hull had a hit and scored a run and Cynthia Hull had a hit and drove in a run.
Ayana Lindsey and Cook each scored runs for City High for City High.
Lindsey took the loss for City High in the nightcap allowing six runs, four earned on four hits while striking out eight and walking three.
Cook homered while Cynthia Hull had a pair of doubles and Avy Lindsey had a triple for City High.
