Softball Roundup: Ranked RVC Rivals Regina and Durant Split Doubleheader

Regina and Durant split a River Valley Conference South Division doubleheader on Monday in Iowa City.
Class 2A No. 11 Regina won the opener 2-1 and No. 15 Durant took the nightcap 6-4 in eight innings.
Regina moved to 7-3 on the season and 5-1 in RVC play while Durant is now 5-10 on the year and 3-4 in conference play.
Emma Nibaur outdueled Durant’s Kylie Schult in the opener allowing just one run on four hits while striking out eight in a complete game win.
Courtney Kessler had a hit and scored a run for Regina while Kate Milder and Abby Clark each had an RBI single.
Schult allowed two runs on three hits and struck out five and walked five for Durant.
Durant scored two runs in the fifth and snapped a 4-4 tie with two in the top of the eighth while taking the nightcap 6-4.
Kessler went 4-for-4 with a triple, a run scored and an RBI for the Regals while Annie Gahan had a double, scored a run and drove in a run.
Baylee O’Connor had two hits and scored a run and Abby Clark had an RBI.
Nibaur took the loss allowing two unearned runs on two hits in 3 1/3 innings of relief.
