Solon had a strong close to the season end with a 10-0 loss to four-time defending champion and top-ranked Davenport Assumption in the Class 1A, Region 8 title game on Friday in Davenport.

No. 15 Solon (14-6) had a four-match winning streak snapped with the loss while Assumption (14-5) advanced to the state tournament where it will face Sioux City Heelan (10-7) on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in a 1A quarterfinal.

Grace Ruggles had four goals and Jade Jackson had three goals and three assists for Assumption in the win.

Sam Scodeller added two goals while Aubree Langan had a goal and an assist.
