Baseball Roundup: City High Sweeps Cedar Falls in Doubleheader

Class 4A No. 10 City High won a pair of close games over Cedar Falls while sweeping the Tigers in a Mississippi Valley Conference doubleheader on Friday at Mercer Park in Iowa City.
City High won the opener 5-1 behind a strong outing from John Klosterman and took then nightcap 4-3 in nine innings.
The Little Hawks improved to 4-3 on the season with the sweep while Cedar Falls dropped to 4-5.
Klosterman stuck out 12 and allowed just one run on three hits in 5 2/3 innings in the opener.
Alex Knudtson worked the final 1 1/3 innings, striking out three.
Egan Smith went 2-for-3 with a double and Gable Mitchell had a triple and scored twice for the Little Hawks.
Jacob Means, Knudtson and Gavin Koch all had hits and drove in runs for City High while Cade Obermueller scored a run and drove in two runs.
Carter Seaton started game two and allowed three runs on seven hits while striking out four in six innings.
Mitchell earned the win in relief, striking out four in three hitless innings.
Klosterman went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Ben Kueter had two hits to lead the Little Hawks in game two.
Mitchell and Smith each had hits and drove in runs while Cedric Dunnwalkd scored two runs.
