Softball Roundup: Regina’s Nibaur Throws Perfect Game in Win Over Bellevue

Emma Nibaur was perfect on Thursday.
Thanks to Nibaur Regina kept its record spotless as well.
Nibaur tossed a five-inning perfect game against Bellevue on Thursday retiring 15 consecutive batters in an 11-0 win over the Comets in a River Valley Conference cross-divisional matchup in Iowa City.
The win was the sixth straight to open the season for Class 2A No. 11 Regina while Bellevue dropped to 0-5 on the season.
Nibaur threw 40 of 51 pitches for strikes and fanned eight of the 15 batters she faced while not allowing a single comet to reach base.
The junior right-hander improved to 4-0 on the season with the win.
Courtney Kessler provided all the offense Nibaur would need going 3-for-3 with a triple, a home run, four RBI and three runs scored.
Annie Gahan tripled, and drove in a run while Gabby Sueppel had two hits and scored a run.
Jaelyn Ernst had a triple, scored a run and drove in two and Kate Milder had a hit, scored a run and drove in a run.
Nibaur had a hit and scored twice and Emma Sueppel had a hit, drove in a run and scored a run.
