After being swept by Class 2A second-ranked Williamsburg on Memorial Day Liberty High has bounced back with a pair of impressive sweeps in a span of a few days.

Liberty High record its second Mississippi Valley Conference sweep in three days on Thursday taking a pair of games from cross-town rival West High in Iowa City.

Class 5A No. 10 Liberty High won the opener 17-2 and took the nightcap 13-3 in six innings to improve to 7-3 on the season and 5-1 in MVC play.

West High dropped to 0-6 on the season and in conference play.

Liberty High exploded for 10 runs in the top of the seventh inning to put the exclamation point on a win in the opener.

Kara Maiers earned the win allowing two runs on six hits while striking out 13 and walking three in a complete game.

Liberty High hammered 20 hits in the opener led by four-hit efforts from Mischa Reiners and Kylie Hamers.

Reiners went 4-for-5 with a double and four RBI and Hamers was 4-for-5 with two RBI and three runs scored.

Ava Donnelly homered, drove in two runs and scored three times, Ella McLaughlin had three hits, drove in three runs and scored twice and Raquel Trolliet had two hits and scored two runs.

Ashlyn Geasland was 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored and Haley Schroeder had two hits and drove in a run.

Kennedy Daugherty had a hit, scored a run and drove in two.

Ella Nelson and Rylee Goodfellow each had two hits for West High in the opener while Goodfellow drove in a run and Nelson scored a run.

Ava Heilskov had a double and drove in a run for the Trojans.

Kinsley Robertson picked up the win in game two allowing three runs on four hits while striking out six and walking two.

Reiners had a double, a triple and scored two runs while Brynlee Slockett had two hits and scored two runs and Robertson had two hits and drove in three.

Daugherty had a hit and scored four runs, Eva Stewart had a hit and drove in four runs and Haley Napoli had a triple, scored a run and drove in a run.

Goodfellow had a hit and drove in two runs and Liv Williams had a hit and scored two runs for West High in the nightcap.

Nelson had a triple, scored and drove in a run.
