In her first trip to the state golf meet Liberty High freshman Bella Pettersen left with some hardware.

Pettersen shot even par 71 for the second consecutive day on Wednesday to finish third at the Class 4A state tournament at Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny.

Consistency was the name of the game for Pettersen at the two-day, 36-hole event as the freshman joined individual champion Shannyn Vogler from Bettendorf as the only players to shoot 71 or better on both days.

Vogler followed up an opening-round 69 with a three-under-par 68 on Wednesday winning the individual title with a two-day total of five-under-par 137.

Rylee Heryford of Newton was runner-up with a one-under 141 to finish one stroke in front of Pettersen.

Pettersen shot even par on both the front and back nine on Wednesday, carding two birdies and bogies on the front and one birdy and one bogey on the back nine.

A birdie on the par-four 18^th gave Petterson a two-day total of 142 which was one stroke better than day-one leader Paige Hoffman of West Des Moines Dowling who finished fourth after a 76 on Wednesday.

Liberty High senior Neely Maurus capped a strong career by shooting 79 on Wednesday to place 20^th with a 162.

West Des Moines Valley won the team title by 62 strokes over runner-up Pleasant Valley shooting a two-day total of 604.

Pleasant Valley was second with a 66 followed by Bettendorf with a 682 and Cedar Falls with a 688.
