West High Girls Tennis Team Headed Back to Final Four

For the fourth consecutive season the West High tennis team is headed to the final four.
West High continued its dominating run through the postseason with a 5-0 win over Clinton in the opening round of the Class 2A state tournament on Monday at Bettendorf.
The Trojans remained unbeaten on the season with the win on Monday pushing its season record to 18-0 and secured a spot in the 2A final four on June 5 at Johnston.
It was the third consecutive 5-0 postseason win for West High which reached the state quarterfinals with consecutive 5-0 wins over City High and Dubuque Senior in the 2A, Region 4 tournament on Saturday.
Ella De Young, Julianna Mascardo, Caroline Chandler, Caroline Mascardo and Lydia Shin all posted singles wins for West High on Monday.
West High has now won four consecutive matches in which it didn’t drop a single match and has lost matches in just three of 18 wins this season.
West High joins West Des Moines Dowling, West Des Moines Valley and Cedar Falls in the final four.
The Trojans are seeking a second state title and third straight state finals appearance in their fourth consecutive final four appearance.
West High finished third in 2017, won the 2A state title 5-4 over Ames in 2018 and was the 2A runner-up in 2019 falling to Ames 5-3 in the state title match.
