After building a lead in the race for a conference title last week Bella Pettersen put the finishing touches on her Mississippi Valley Conference crown on Monday.

The Liberty High freshman fired a 67 at the second Mississippi Divisional meet on Monday at Airport National Golf Course in Cedar Rapids to secure the first divisional title in program history.

Pettersen shot a 38 at the nine-hole MVC Super Meet before taking control of the race with a 67 at the first divisional meet at Bunker Hill Golf Course in Dubuque.

A 67 on Monday was enough to hold off runner-up Tatum Depuydt of Linn-Mar who shot a 61 on Monday by two strokes.

Liberty High senior Neely Maurus shot a 64 on Monday and finished third in the divisional race with a three-meet score of 179.

Liberty High shot a 320 as a team on Monday and finished runner-up to Western Dubuque in the overall team standings with an 831.

Western Dubuque shot a 295 on Friday and claimed the Mississippi Division title with an 814.

City High shot a 346 on Monday and finished eighth in the divisional with a three-day score of 953.

West High had three golfers finish in the top eight in the Valley Division final standings led by senior Rylee Goodfellow who was third with a three-day total of 216.

Goodfellow shot an 87 on Monday in the final divisional meet at Irv Warren Memorial Golf Course in Waterloo helping West High finish runner-up in the Valley Division team standings behind Dubuque Hempstead.

Dubuque Hempstead shot a low round of 376 on Monday to secure the team title with a 914 while West High was runner-up with a 931 and Waterloo West was third with a 976.

West High’s Leigha Pacha was fourth in the individual standings with a three-day score of 217 while teammate Lucy Schmid was eighth with a 235.
