Boys Golf Roundup: West Branch Wins Class 2A Sectional Meet

West Branch moved one step closer to a return trip to the state golf meet on Friday.
The Bears opened postseason play by winning the Class 2A sectional title at Heritage Oaks Golf Course in Wapello finishing nine strokes in front of runner-up Tipton.
West Branch shot a 323 to win the team title and joins Tipton in advancing to the 2A district meet at Gates Park and Golf Course in Waterloo on May 21 at 10 a.m.
West Branch had three players in the top, all with scores of 80 or lower on Friday on its way to the team title.
Brady Knoop was runner-up with a 78 while Dylan Countryman fired a 79 to place third and Will Bridges was fourth with an 80.
Tipton junior Bob Ryan shot a 76 to earn individual medalist honors.
Regina sophomore Mikey Takacs shot an 83 to advance to the district meet as an individual qualifier along with West Liberty’s Ty Jones who carded an 85.
