A week ago Clear Creek Amana produced one of the most memorable track and field performance in program history while winning its first ever WAMAC Conference team title.

The Clippers kept that postseason momentum moving forward on Thursday.

Clear Creek Amana won seven events and secured 12 automatic bids to the state meet while running away with the team title at the Class 3A state qualifying meet in Mount Pleasant.

The Clippers racked up 158 team points to finish 26 points in front of runner-up Washington while Fort Madison was third with 105 points.

Alex Figueroa won titles in the 100 and 200, Gavin Zillyette won gold in the 400 hurdles and Clippers claimed four relay titles in a big day on the track.

Clear Creek Amana won the sprint medley, distance medley, shuttle hurdle and 4×800 relays.

The shuttle hurdle team of Ben Swails, Andrew Schlemme, Zaid Rachman and Harrison Rosenberg won in 1:02.08 and Rosenberg secured a spot at state with a runner-up finish in the 110 hurdles.

Rosenberg, Figueroa, Gage Freeman and Tom Johnson won the sprint medley in 1:35.39 and Freeman, Swails, Zillyette and Johnson won the distance medley in 3:37.58.

Zillyette, Cash Jensen, Brandon Barker and Johnson won the 4×800 relay in 8:17.13.

Barker was runner-up in both the 1,600 and 3,200 for the Clippers while Joshua Loren was runner-up in the high jump and the Clipper 4×400 relay team of Zillyette, Jensen, Gisleson and Johnson was second in a time of 3:30.75.
