Boys Golf Roundup: Solon Claims WAMAC Super Meet Title

Last week Solon won the WAMAC East title with an impressive showing at the nine-hole East Divisional meet.
On Monday the Spartans completed the WAMAC Conference postseason sweep.
Solon used a balanced performance to win the WAMAC Super Meet title by three strokes over Dyersville Beckman at Wildcat Golf Course in Shellsburg.
Jack McCarty and Frank Haege Jr. each shot a 77 as all four Spartans carded scores of 84 or lower as Solon finished with a 317.
Independence was third with a 325 followed by Mount Vernon with a 336 and Clear Creek Amana with a 338.
McCarty closed with a 38 on the final nine to shoot a 77 while Haege shot an even-par 36 on the back nine on his way to a 77 as the two finished seventh and 10th respectively to lead the Spartans.
Stetson McIlravy shot an 81 and Mac McCarty an 82 for Solon while Lucas TePoel and Brennan Heesch each finished with an 84.
Zach McCarty fired a 79 to finish 12th to pace Clear Creek Amana while senior Ryan Navara shot an 84 for the Clippers.
Noah Nabb of Maquoketa shot an even-par 72 to win the individual title by one stroke of Elias Tibbott of West Delaware and Brayden Almquist of Vinton-Shellsburg.
