Liberty High finished runner-up at the first home track meet in program history placing second at its own Liberty Lightning Invitational on Friday in North Liberty.

Ashlyn Keeney and Cam Mac finished first and second in the 3,000 to lead Liberty High as the Lightning rolled up 112 team points.

Cedar Rapids Prairie won the team title with 120 points while Pleasant Valley was third with 108 followed by Linn-Mar with 82 and City High with 66.5.

West High was ninth with 56 points.

Keeney won the 3,000 in a time of 10:41.89 while Mac was second in 10:53.98.

Isabelle Woody added a runner-up finish in the 400 hurdles in 1:09.27 for Liberty High and the Lightning shuttle hurdle relay team was second.

Lilly Reynolds won the 400 hurdle sin 1:07 to pace City High and the Little Hawks got runner-up finishes from Alia Vanderhoef in the high jump, Jordan Sekafetz in the 100 hurdles and its 4×400 relay team.

West High was led by Ella Woods who won the 100 hurdles in a time of 16.11.

The Trojans got runner-up finishes in both throwing events as Phoebe Burt was second in the discus with a mark of 124-7 and Arionnah Sonii was second in the shot put with a toss of 39-4 ½.
