Liberty High won six events and finished third in the team standings at its own Liberty Lightning Invitational on Friday in North Liberty.

Luke Meyers won the 100 and 200 and ran on the Liberty High winning 4×100 relay team as the Lightning finished with 147 points at the first home meet in program history.

Cedar Rapids Prairie won the team title with 192 points followed by City High with 160.

Meyers won the 100 in 11.19 and added a title in the 200 in a time of 22.69 before anchoring the Liberty High 4×100 relay team that also featured Michael Miller, Ben O’Connor and Brody Fishman to a win in 43.63.

Daqwan Sanders won the long jump with a leap of 21-7 for Liberty High while Bowen Gryp won the 1,600 in 4:21.44 and teammate Jack Kinzer was runner-up in 4:24.74.

The Liberty High distance medley relay team of Miller, O’Connor, Kinzer and Gryp won in 3:40.8.

City High got individual titles from Ammon Smith, Jovan Harris, Raph Hamilton and Matt Schaeckenbach and also won the sprint medley relay on its way to a runner-up team finish.

Schaeckenbach cleared 6-0 to win the high jump while Hamilton won the shot put with a toss of 55-5 ½.

Harris won the 400 in 50.75 and Smith claimed the 800 title in 1:57.89.

The City High sprint medley relay team of Mengty Tan, Ronnie Major, Harris and Smith won in 1:34.4.
