Boys Golf Roundup: West Branch Bounces Back to Win West Liberty Invitational

For the first time all season West Branch failed to finish first at a competition on Monday when it fell to Tipton in a River Valley Conference dual meet.
The Bears didn’t waste any time getting back into the top spot.
West Branch bounced back from its dual loss on Monday with a dominating performance on its way to the team title at the West Liberty Invitational on Tuesday at the West Liberty Golf Course.
The Bears put four five golfers in the top seven while carding a 306 as a team to finish 37 strokes in front of runner-up Clear Creek Amana.
The Clippers got a fourth-place finish from Zach McCarty while finishing runner-up in front of Tipton which was third with a 351.
Regina shot a 391 to finish in ninth place.
Senior Kaleb Sexton fired an even-par 72 to earn medalist honors and headline a group of three West Branch players in the top five.
Sexton opened with a 34 and shot a 38 on the final nine holes while finishing six strokes in front of Tipton’s Bob Ryan who was runner-up with a 78.
Gage Gingerich was third with a 78 for West Branch while Brandy Knoop shot a 79 to place fifth.
Logan Highly was sixth with an 80 and Will Bridges just one stroke back in seventh place with an 81 for the Bears.
Ryan Navara fired an 83 and Jordan DeKoter shot an 84 for Clear Creek Amana.
Mikey Takacs shot an 87 to pace Regina while Andrew Triplett shot a 92 for the Regals.
