Clear Creek Amana didn’t wait long or have to search very far to find its next head football coach.
The Clippers announced on Monday that former Mount Vernon defensive coordinator Matt Haddy would be named the next head football coach pending approval of the school board.
Haddy takes over for Gabe Bakker who compiled a 20-16 record in four seasons leading the program before being hired as the head coach at Waukee High School earlier this year.
A long-time coach of various sports in Eastern Iowa, Haddy has most recently served as defensive coordinator and girls basketball coach at Mount Vernon.
Haddy has helped the Mustangs to winning seasons in six of the past seven years including a Class 2A runner-up finish in 2015.
Prior to his time at Mount Vernon Haddy was defensive coordinator and boys basketball coach at Lisbon helping the Lions to a perfect 14-0 season and Class A state title in 2011.
Clear Creek Amana has finished .500 or better each of the past three seasons and was 4-4 a year ago falling to Marion in the opening round of the Class 3A playoffs.
