Girls Track and Field Roundup: Clear Creek Amana Edges Tipton for Team Title at Anamosa Early Bird Relays

Clear Creek Amana had top-four finishes in 13 events on Tuesday at the Anamosa Early Bird Relays and the Clippers needed every one of those point-producing performances to come home with the team title.
The Clippers edged Tipton by one point for the team title at the eight-team meet in Anamosa on Tuesday finishing with 131 points.
Marion was third with 115 followed by host Anamosa with 92 and Monticello with 86. West Branch finished in a tie for seventh place with Springville with 51 points.
Clear Creek Amana got individual titles from Silvana Kabolo and Haidyn Barker and won five relays on its way to securing the team title.
Barker won the 1,500 in 5:19.84 while Kabolo won the 100 hurdles in 16.51 while teammate Emma Mathis was runner-up in 16.85.
Where the Clippers really flexed their muscle was in the relays.
Clear Creek Amana won the shuttle hurdle, 4×100, 4×200, 4×400 and 4×800 relay titles and added a runner-up finish in the sprint medley.
Sasha Koenig won the long jump with a leap of 15-1 ½ to pace West Branch while the Bears also got a fourth-place finish from Allie Laschanzky in the shot put and finished third in the 4×200 relay.
