Alumni News is a way for readers to keep tabs on former area standouts as well as honoring those athletes that continue to excel at the next level.
Regan Steigleder
West High graduate Regan Steigleder scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick in the 67th minute to lift Northwestern to a 1-0 win over Purdue on Thursday in a Big Ten Regional Weekend opener in Madison, Wisconsin.
The goal was the fourth of the season for Steigleder, a senior four-year starter for the Wildcats with eight career goals.
Josie Durr
Solon graduate and current Iowa junior Josie Durr scored a goal to help Iowa to a 2-1 win over second-seeded Illinois in the opening round of the Big Ten Regional Weekend on Thursday at Demirjian Park in Champaign, Illinois.
The goal was the first of the season for Durr who has started all 12 games for the Hawkeyes this season.
Luke Ira
Solon graduate Luke Ira had seven hits as South Dakota State split a four-game weekend series with Omaha on Friday and Saturday in Brookings, South Dakota.
A sophomore shortstop for the Jackrabbits, Ira went 4-for-7 with two doubles, two RBI and a run scored in a South Dakota State doubleheader sweep on Sunday.
On the season Ira is hitting .282 with eight doubles and a home run and ranks second on the team with 16 RBI.
