West Branch won five relays and got individual titles from three different athletes on its way to winning the team title at its own Chad Gates Invitational on Thursday in West Branch.

The Bears won the shuttle hurdle, sprint medley and 4×100, 4×200 and 4×800 relays while edging Solon by one point for the team title.

West Branch won with 80 points, Solon was second with 70 and Durant was third with 61.5.

Jake Swisher won the 3,200 in 11:17.61 while Joe Hamann won the 800 in 2:21.34 for the Bears.

Cash Woody cleared 6-1 to add a title in the high jump.

Solon got individual titles from Rhett Mesch in the 400 (55.95) and Michael Yeomans in the 800

(5:13.94) on its way to a runner-up finish.

Solon also won the 4×400 and distance medley relays.
