Boys Track and Field Roundup: Solon Wins Team Title at Williamsburg Invitational

Solon didn’t have an individual champion at the Williamsburg Invitational on Tuesday.
The Spartans did however have plenty of team success.
Solon won a pair of relay titles, had eight top-five finishes in individual events and pulled away from the field to win the team title at the 12-team meet on a warm and sunny afternoon in Williamsburg.
The Spartans had two individuals place in six different events and finished in the top four in all seven relays while winning the team title with 109 points.
Benton Community was runner-up with 85 points followed by Grinnell with 74, Washington with 73 and Mount Pleasant with 69. Regina was 11th with 36 points.
The Solon foursome of Michael Yeomans, Ty Becicka, Grant Bumsted and Noelan Garbes won the 4×800 in 9:23.22 while the team of Blake Timmons, Trin Eidahl, Brayden Rickertsen and Colton Hoffman won the 4×200 in 1:32.67.
Hoffman was runner-up in the 100 in 11.49 and added a third-place finish in the high jump while Ben DeValk was runner-up in the 1,600 in 4:48.29.
Solon was runner-up in 4×100 relay and was third in the distance medley and 4×400.
Theo Kolie won the long jump with a leap of 19-9 ¾ to lead Regina and added a runner-up finish in the 200 in 23.68.
Carson Jensen won the 400 in 51.77 for the Regals.
