After cruising to the team title at their season-opening meet at Tipton on Tuesday the Solon girls track team took a step up in competition in their second meet.

The Spartans proved to be more than up to the task.

Solon posted top-three finishes in 11 different events on its way to winning the team title at the predominately Class 4A J-Hawk Relays on Saturday at Kingston Stadium in Cedar Rapids.

Ava Conrad, Emma Bock and Kiersten Conway won individual titles ad Solon won the distance medley relay while racking up 120.5 points to finish 3.5 in front of runner-up Cedar Falls.

Cedar Rapids Prairie was third with 110 points followed by Dubuque Wahlert with 94 points, Decorah with 65 and City High with 52. West High was eighth with 51.5 points.

Conrad won the discus with a toss of 120-5 ½ and added a runner-up finish in the shot put with a mark of 36-10 ½.

Conway won the 3,000 in 11:18.28 and was third in the 1,500 in 5:11.46 while Bock won the 800 in a time of 2:22.56.

The Solon foursome of Ava Stebral, Mia Stahle, Ashley Stinocher and Kaia Holtkamp won the distance medley relay in 4:30.77 to highlight a strong day for the Spartan relay teams.

Holtkamp, Makinley Levin, Callie Levin and Bock, were runner-up in the 4×400 in 4:07.74 and Bock, Callie Levin, Makinley Levin and Ellie Wolff were second in the sprint medley in 1:52.22.

The Solon shuttle hurdle relay team of Mia Stahle, Jada Buffington, Calla Foster and Sophia Stahle was second in 1:11.36

Makinley Levin was runner-up in the long jump with a mark of 16-5 while Callie Levin was third with a jump of 16-0.

Phoebe Burt led West High, winning the shot put with a mark of 38-5 ½ and finished second in the discus with a toss of 115-2.

Ella Woods was third in the 110 hurdles for the Trojans in a time of 16.9.

Rowan Boulter led City High with a runner-up finish in the 3,000 in a time of 11:22.7 and CeCe Kelly-Harvey added a third-place finish in the 400 in 1:03.57.
