Girls Track and Field Roundup: Solon Impressive in Winning Tipton Early Bird Invite

A year without competition doesn’t seem to have done much to slow down the Solon girls track program.
Judging off the results from its season-opening meet the year layoff may have even motivated the Spartans even more.
Solon opened the season in impressive fashion on Tuesday cruising to the team title at the Tipton Early Bird Invite at Tipton City Park.
The Spartans won 10 events, including five relay titles, while rolling up 157.5 points to outdistance runner-up Clear Creek Amana which finished with 77 points.
Regina was third with 67.5 points while West Branch was 10th with 19.5.
Solon had five individual titles led by Ava Conrad who swept the throwing events.
Conrad won the discus with a toss of 109-8 and added a title in the shot put with a mark of 34-11 ¼.
Kaia Holtkamp won the 400 in 1:02.4, Emma Bock won the 800 in 2:29.71 and Kiersten Conway won the 1,500 in a time of 5:32.35.
Solon dominated the relay events winning titles in the sprint medley, distance medley, 4×100, 4×200 and 4×400 and finishing runner-up in both the shuttle hurdle and 4×800 relays.
Clear Creek Amana got an individual title from Bailey Olerich in the 200 (28.85) and added a title in the 4×800 relay on its way to a runner-up team finish.
Silvana Kabolo added a runner-up finish for the Clippers in the 100 hurdles in a time of 16.84.
Annie Gahan won a pair of individual titles to lead Regina and also helped the Regals to a win in the shuttle hurdle relay.
Gahan won the long jump with a mark of 15-11 ¾ and added a title in the 400 hurdles in 1:11.12.
She joined Emma Sueppel, Peyton Naeve and Abby Clark on the Regals’ shuttle hurdle relay team that won in 1:12.6.
Annalee Bartels added a title in the 3,000 for Regina in a time of 11:49.76 and was fourth in the 1,500.
Allie Laschanzky was third in the shot put with a mark of 33-8 ½ to lead West Branch while Iva Senio was fourth in the 100 in 13.89.
