Solon won a pair of events on its way to a fifth-place team finish on Tuesday at the Tipton Early Bird Invitational at Tipton City Park.

Colton Hoffman won the high jump and helped the Solon 4×200 relay team to a first-place finish as the Spartans rolled up 56 points.

Host Tipton won the team title with 84 points followed by Camanche with 71, Central DeWitt with 69 and Dyersville Beckman with 58.

Clear Creek Amana was ninth with 27 points, West Branch was 12^th with 20 points and Regina was 13^th with 10 points.

Hoffman cleared 6-0 to win the high jump and joined Blake Timmons, Trin Eidahl and Brayden Rickertsen on the Spartans 4×200 relay team that won in a time of 1:34.88.

The Solon shuttle hurdle relay team of Timmons, Jake Quillin, Nash Kotar and Brady Jeworrek was second in 1:10.5 and Tyler Bilskie was third in the 1,600 in 4:47.56 and Brick Kabela was third in the 3,200 in a tie of 11:13.89.

Clear Creek Amana got individual titles from Ben Swails in the long jump and Harrison Rosenberg in the 110 hurdles.

Swails won the long jump with a leap of 20-5 and Rosenberg won the 110 hurdles in 15.54.

Josh Gaffey won the shot put for Regina with a toss of 46-4 ½ and West Branch got a runner-up finish from Cash Woody in the high jump and  the foursome of Zach Walker, Evan Striegel, Carver Boelk and Cale Seydel was third in the distance medley relay in 4:15.33.
