Last season Christian Withrow staked his claim as one of the best players in Class 3A earning second-team all-state honors after leading Clear Creek Amana to the state semifinals.
What Withrow did for an encore was even more impressive.
Withrow ranked eighth in Class 3A in scoring at 19.1 points per game and was named to the Class 3A all-state second team for the second year in a row on Tuesday when the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association announced its postseason honors.
Withrow shot a career-high 55 percent from the field while leading the Clippers in scoring for the second year in a row as Clear Creek Amana finished 17-6 and claimed its second straight WAMAC West Division title.
The 6-foot-2 Withrow added 5.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.1 steals per game this season and shot 71 percent from the free throw line.
West High junior Peter Moe was a third-team all-state selection in Class 4A after a stellar debut season.
In his first season at West High the 6-foot-8 Moe ranked in the top six in Class 4A in both scoring and rebounding averaging 21.9 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.
Moe was among the most efficient scorers in the state, shooting 54 percent from the floor and 81 percent from the free throw line while ranking third in 4A in points per game.
Waukee senior Tucker DeVries was selected as Mr. Iowa Basketball after leading the Warriors to the Class 4A state title.
A Drake recruit, DeVries averaged 18.5 points, 6.6 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game.
