Audrey Koch and Sasha Koenig share many of the same basketball characteristics that make them two of the best players in the state.
Both have vast skill sets and include the ability to impact the game on both ends of the court through scoring, passing or defending.
The similarities don’t stop with on-court qualities.
Both seniors are 1,000-point career scorers and Division I signees and both ranked in the top 10 in their respective class in scoring this season while leading their teams to the state semifinals.
On Tuesday Koenig and Koch were both named first-team all-state by the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association.
Koch was named to the IPSWA Class 5A first-team for the first time in her career following a senior season in which she ranked seventh in 5A in scoring at 19.1 points per game.
A Providence signee, Koch was seventh in 5A in field goal percentage, shooting 58 percent from the field while helping West High to a 14-4 record and a spot in the 5A semifinals.

Joens was a second-team selection in Class 5A following a breakthrough season in which she ranked eighth in 5A in scoring at 18.7 points per game and led City High with 3.3 assists and 2 steals per game.
