It hasn’t taken long for City High sophomore Kelsey Joens to establish herself as one of the best players in the state.

In just her second season Joens has already elevated to elite status as evidence by her unanimous selection to the Mississippi Valley Conference Mississippi Division first team on Wednesday.

A second team all-division pick a year ago, Joens earned first team honors for the first time this season headlining a list of five City High players to earn all-conference recognition when the league announced its postseason honors.

The 5-foot-10 Joens led City High in scoring at 19.3 points per game and also led the Little Hawks in assists (3.4) and steals (2.1) and was third on the team with 5.6 rebounds per game.

Junior Eviyon Richardson and senior Ella Cook were both named to the Mississippi Division second team.

Richardson averaged 14.8 points and 7.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game while Cook averaged 12.9 points and 6.4 rebounds helping City High to a 10-5 record and a spot in a Class 5A regional final.

Juniors Andie Westlake and Georgia Kimm were both honorable mention selections for the Little Hawks.

Westlake averaged 6.6 points and 3.6 rebounds and Kimm averaged 4 points in her first season as a starter.

Liberty High sophomore Keiko Ono-Fullard earned second-team Mississippi Division honors after leading the Lightning with 8.3 points and 3 assists per game.

Sophomore Ava Meyer and freshman Haley Schroeder earned honorable mention status for Liberty High.
Meyer averaged 6.7 points and 5.1 rebounds per game while Schroeder scored 5.7 points and grabbed 3.4 rebounds per outing.

Cedar Falls senior Anaya Barney was named the Mississippi Division player of the year and Cedar Falls coach Gregg Groen was named divisional coach of the year.
