Boys Basketball Roundup: Solon Rolls Past South Tama in Substate Opener

Eighth-ranked Solon opened the postseason with a win on Monday rolling past South Tama 64-30 in a Class 3A, Substate 4 quarterfinal in Solon.
The win was the fourth straight for Solon (20-2) and sends the Spartans into the Substate 4 semifinals where they will host Maquoketa (8-13) on Thursday at 7 p.m.
Maquoketa advanced with a 47-46 quarterfinal win at West Delaware.
Solon jumped to a 35-17 halftime lead on Monday and didn’t allow double digit points in a single quarter.
David Bluder had a game-high 18 points to lead Solon while Carson Shive had 13 for the Spartans.
Bo Janssen had nine points, Kinnick Pusteoska had even and Ben Cusick and Jake Quillin each had six for Solon.
Eli Keahna had 10 points to lead South Tama (1-17).
