Adam Bock
Former Solon standout Adam Bock had a big game for South Dakota State in a 24-20 season-opening win at Northern Iowa.
A redshirt freshman linebacker for the Jackrabbits, Bock tied for the team lead with five tackles and had four solo stops and a sack to go along with a quarterback hurry in the win.
The 6-foot-1, 210-pound Bock had four tackles in four games as a true freshman last while maintaining his redshirt season.
Katie Severt
West High graduate Katie Severt, a sophomore at Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska, placed third in the long jump at the Great Plains Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Meet on Saturday at Dordt University in Sioux Center.
Severt was third with a leap of 17-0 ½ to help Concordia claim its fourth consecutive indoor conference team title by 80 points over runner-up Hastings College. Severt also finished 13th in the 55 meter in a time of 7.58.
Jared Brinkman
A Regina graduate and current senior defensive tackle at Northern Iowa, Brinkman was busy in a season-opening loss to South Dakota State.
Brinkman had a sack and three solo stops among his five tackles against the Jackrabbits and also forced a fumble and had a team-leading two quarterback hurries.
