Liberty High fell to Class 4A seventh-ranked Dubuque Hempstead 66-46 on Thursday in a Mississippi Valley Conference cross-divisional matchup in North Liberty.

The loss was the fifth straight for Liberty High and dropped the Lightning to 5-5 on the season while Dubuque Hempstead improved to 15-4 with the win.

Ethan O’Donnell led Liberty High with 13 points while Ira Hazeltine had nine and Kelby Telander and Basil Aldoss each had six.

Michael Duax led all scorers with 24 while Kellen Strohmeyer had 18 and Jamari Smith 10 for the Mustangs.
