Girls Basketball Roundup: Liberty High Upsets No. 8 CR Washington

The longer the game went on Friday night the better Liberty High played in its matchup with Cedar Rapids Washington.
In the end the Lightning were playing well enough to score one of the biggest wins in program history.
Liberty High overcame a scoreless first quarter and a two-point halftime deficit to post a 41-35 upset of Class 5A eighth-ranked Cedar Rapids Washington in a Mississippi Valley Conference Mississippi Division matchup in Cedar Rapids.
Freshman Brynlee Slockett had a game-high 13 points and grabbed four rebounds and Keiko Ono-Fullard had 10 points, four steals and three assists as Liberty High improved to 4-10 on the season.
Kennedy Daugherty had four points and eight rebounds for the Lightning while Sunny Yarnell grabbed six rebounds and Ava Meyer had three points and five boards.
Kinsley Robertson and Haley Schroeder each had two assists for Liberty High.
Cedar Rapids Washington dropped to 12-3 with the loss.
