West High defeated Pleasant Valley in the opening round of a Class 3A regional dual on Wednesday but came up a win short of the state dual meet falling to North Scott 48-31 in the regional final.

The Trojans won six matches against North Scott in the final, five via tech fall or fall but it wasn’t enough as the Lancers posted eight pins while advancing to state duals for the fifth time in the past seven seasons.

West High opened the evening by defeating Pleasant Valley 44-30 in the opening round.

The Trojans won nine matches with Parker McBride, Grant O’Dell, Hunter Garvin and Mason Applegate all posting pins.

Graham Gambrall started the dual with North Scott with a pin at 152 pounds and Ashton Barker gave West High the lead back with a 20-5 tech fall over Seth Madden at 170 pounds.

North Scott responded with six consecutive pins to seize control of the match, building a lead that would never be challenged.

McBride earned a pin at 120 pounds, Kael Scranton had a pin at 132 and Garvin won by tech fall at 138.
