Girls Basketball Roundup: Solon Downs Mount Vernon in Regular Season Finale

Solon closed a breakthrough regular season with a win on Tuesday evening.
Now the Spartans gear up for what they hope is an even bigger breakout in the postseason.
Class 3A No. 12 Solon completed the regular season sweep of WAMAC East Division rival Mount Vernon with a 53-42 win over the Mustangs in Solon.
It was the fourth straight victory in the series for Solon which had lost 18 in a row to Mount Vernon dating back to 2010 before a pair of wins last year.
Freshman Callie Levin poured in a game-high 24 points and older sister Makinley Levin added eight points on Tuesday as Solon closed the regular season 15-5.
Solon will open postseason play on Saturday by hosting Tipton at 7 p.m. in a Class 3A regional quarterfinal.
Mount Vernon dropped to 1-19 on the season with its eighth straight loss.
Kaia Holtkamp and Hilary Wilson each had seven points for Solon while Elly Holubar had four and Hailey Miller added three.
Liz Dougherty led Mount Vernon with 15 points and McKenzie Rentschler added 11.
