Seybian Sims
West High graduate Seybian Sims had his first career double-double at North Dakota on Saturday scoring a career-high 13 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in a loss to Denver.
A former all-stater for West High, Sims has started 20 games for North Dakota in his first season for the Fighting Hawks averaging 6.1 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.
The 6-foot-7 junior forward has scored in double figures in three of his past six games.
Emma Norris
West High graduate and current Western Illinois senior Emma Norris had a season-high nine kills in a loss to Oral Roberts on Sunday.
A 5-foot-9 outside hitter, Norris ranks second on the team with 25 kills and is also second with 34 digs through four matches this season for the Leathernecks.
Jared Brinkman
Former Regina standout Jared Brinkman, a senior defensive tackle at Northern Iowa, was named to the Missouri Valley Football Conference preseason team.
The 6-2, 290-pound Brinkman was one of four defensive linemen selected on the preseason team after a junior season in which he ranked fourth on the team with 83 tackles.
Brinkman ranked finished second on the team with 14.5 tackles for loss and seven sacks last season.
The Panthers are set to open the season on February 19 against South Dakota State.
