Girls Basketball Roundup: No. 12 Solon Bounces Back With Win at Maquoketa

With just a week remaining before its postseason opener Solon didn’t want to let the effects of a home loss earlier in the week linger for too long.
The Spartans got back on track quickly on Friday.
Class 3A No. 12 Solon bounced back from a loss to Dyersville Beckman on Tuesday with a 60-55 win at Maquoketa in a WAMAC Conference East Division matchup.
Callie Levin led three Solon players in double figures with a game-high 20 points as the Spartans improved to 14-5 on the season and 13-3 in WAMAC play.
With the win Solon completed a season sweep of Maquoketa which had a three-game winning streak snapped with the loss and dropped to 9-11 and 6-8 in conference play.
Kaia Holtkamp and Makinley Levin each added 15 points for Solon which will close out the regular season on Tuesday by hosting Mount Vernon.
Elly Holubar had six points and Hilary Wilson four for the Spartans.
Jackie Miller led Maquoketa with 15 points while Tenley Cavanagh had 13 and CJ Yeager added 11.
